DeYoung “Uncanny Valley” Being Human in the Age of AI

This exhibit was a collaboration of many artists all commenting on the state of machine learning, intelligent technology and how we interact with these new inventions. There was an interactive piece that you were supposed to take an ipad and hold it to a “amazon worker cage” and saw a bird virtually flying around inside, a commentary on the wasteful harm of these companies and their effect on animals and human life.  While other pieces were abstract 2-D work and a few video installations that showed glimpses into future tech and their problematic possibilities. The most interesting piece was a prompt to type in your email address and the computer would look you up and display all publicly available information about you from that email. (It would blur out numbers and addresses in detail) However it was fascinating to get a glimpse into ones online and public presence.
