R.W. Witt “Collaborative Intuition” Grace Tuthill
I worked very closely with the artist and this exhibit, but that aside, the work was comprised of salt and wood fire ceramics. The artist filled the center of the gallery with sand and invited viewers to come interact with the work and choose a piece that resonated with them, and to actively participate in the curation of the work by placing it in the bed of sand. She played with scale and lighting to draw focus on particles and fractal patterns and their beauty as well as created an emphasis on the sandbar making it feel special, and important. The tables and shape of the sand were intentionally complimentary to the ceramic work and their form.
